Hole-y Pants!

Hole-y pants aren’t just for Sundays when you have little kids. When my son hit about 4.5, suddenly every pair had them. Always the left knee. The iron-on patches I ordered came with tracing paper, which inspired me to have a little fun with it to the delight of Little Boy.

I’ve traced pictures from his books, the print on a bed sheet, and drawn freehand.

As long as part of the image is big enough to cover the hole, go for it!

Disclaimer: Making  pictures with delicate details like an elephant’s trunk or a rabbit’s ear causes the patches to begin to peel off sooner. I get a month or two out of them before I have to replace them. But replacing them is easy and it’s worth it for the fun.

Pants that need a patch

Iron-on Patch

Tracing paper

Pencil

Scissors

Iron

Method:

1. Find spare time to do this project. Naturally, step 1 is the hardest step. If you are up for including your kiddo, (depending on their age), it could be a fun/educational project to do together.

2. Place tracing paper over the image you want to copy and outline with your pencil.

3. Cut-out shape from the tracing paper and place over the iron-on patch.

4. Follow the line with a pencil or marker to mark the shape on the patch.

5. Cut out the shape on the iron on patch.

6. Follow directions as-written from your patch vendor.
